PENNINGTON, Michael (Class of 1955)

MICHAEL PENNINGTON has passed away at the age of 88. Michael attended Cheadle Hulme School between 1945 and 1955.

Michael's daughter, Vicky, has provided the following obituary:

Michael Pennington attended CHS, where he excelled in maths, technical drawing and playing rugby. Under the scholarship and employment of Associated Electrical Industries (AEI), Michael completed a Bachelor of Science degree at The University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.

He married Barbara Neesom in 1960 and after a few years at AEI Mike joined the family fashion retail business ‘Lucille Boutiques’. He worked hard and expanded it, opening new shops throughout the 1960s and 70s. At the height of their expansion, there were five boutiques across Wilmslow, Macclesfield and Altrincham. 

Mike is survived by his wife, Barbara and his children Mike, Steve & Vicky. He will be deeply missed.

A funeral service will be held in remembrance of Michael on Monday 29 December 2025 at 10.45am at Macclesfield Crematorium. This will be followed by a small gathering at the Harrington Arms in Gawsworth, Macclesfield. Any Old Waconians who knew Michael are welcome to attend.
