Fondly Remembered |
The following obituary was provided by friend and fellow Old Waconian, Peter Hetherington:
Hamish McIlwrick, CHS (1961) passed away on 22nd January 2024 aged 80.
Hamish, having studied Printing at Manchester College of Science and Technology, worked for Cambridge University Press for many years rising to become Production Director.
However Hamish’s main passion was walking with School and Uni friends, with who he kept in touch throughout his life. He also spent much time serving the village community of Hadstock, Essex in which he lived, including as Chairman of the Parish Council.
He leaves a younger brother Rod, who also was educated at CHS, and has lived in Germany for well over 40 years. The Mc Ilwrick family resided in Hill Top Avenue, Cheadle Hulme.
Hamish was a very good lifelong friend and a really character. He may be remembered for having a big part in the School Pay in 1960 - ‘Arms and the Man’.
