Accredited through the national School Centred Initial Teacher Training programmes (SCITT), CHS is the only school-centred provider in the local area. The renewed accreditation follows another year of many highlights, with 100% of the trainees becoming full-time qualified teachers in the state sector.

SCITT at CHS Co-ordinator, Mrs Rachel Dalton Woods said: “To have our application accredited once more is a huge achievement and is credit to the vast expertise of staff within CHS’s Mathematics, Physics, and Modern Languages departments. The programme at CHS has not only enhanced the learning experience of our pupils, it is also a demonstration of how the School continues to play its part in supporting and paving the way for teachers of the future and helping them to widen their network for greater collaboration.”

CHS is one of 10 national hubs across the country where aspiring teachers learn to develop their skills and confidence through practical classroom-based teacher training and weekly academic theory sessions. Trainees then go on to complete their learning in a contrasting state setting to broaden their experience.

2023 will see CHS expand its pool of partner state schools which offer placements by establishing new links with Knutsford Academy, and Marple Hall. They join The Kingsway School, Coop North Manchester, Sharples School, The Deanery Wigan, Smithills, Macclesfield Academy, Parrs Wood and Sale Grammar School in CHS’s growing list of state setting providers. CHS’s partnerships will continue to expand to areas around the country, enabling trainees to choose a setting to suit them.

CHS is also extending its Modern Language curriculum to include Italian from September 2023, broadening the opportunity for more trainee teachers to share their expertise via the SCITT programme in this subject.

FREE Taster Sessions – February 2023

Recruitment for the forthcoming SCITT programmes begins with FREE Taster Sessions next month in Maths and Physics (10 February 2023) and Modern Languages (16 February 2023). To ask any questions or reserve your spot for either session email Rachel Dalton-Woods.
