Cheadle Hulme School welcome Old Waconians back to School as part of Let's Chat Tech: AI and the Future of Work, an evening designed to help pupils and families better understand how technology, data and AI are shaping future careers.
The panel featured Old Wacs, working at the forefront of AI, technology, data and policy, who shared first-hand insight into how their industries are evolving - and why many of the jobs today's pupils will pursue do not yet exist. Drawing on their own journet beyond CHS, panellists challenged common assumptions abut "tech careers", emphasising that there is no single route and that the most valuable skills remain human: curiosity, judgement, communication, creativity and adaptability.
Fran Kennedy, Director of External Relations said: "Having Old Waconians involved in events like this is incredibly powerful. They bring real-world perspective, honest and resassurance, showing pupils that careers are rarely linear and that it's OK to not have all the answers yet. Our alumni play an important role in helping current pupils look ahead with confidence, curiosity and a sense of possibility."
The event concluded with informal conversations between pupils, parents and paneliss.
Let's Chat Tech forms part of CHS's wider programme of careers events, supporting students to become Future-Minded, World Ready as they navigate future options for life beyond CHS.
