This is the first of three charities chosen by the Junior School Council. Bumblebees are familiar and much-loved insects that pollinate our crops and wildflowers. The Bumblebee Conservation Trust has a vision to create a world where they are thriving and valued.
Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Of those, around 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and lead lonely, isolated lives. Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you.
This is the final charity chosen by the Junior School Council. They are dedicated to providing a creative, happy and safe environment for children and young people with complex learning disabilities and additional communication needs. They offer a holistic approach with their School, College, 17 home-from-home care houses and sports and wellbeing facilities.
In 2020/21 we held our non-uniform day in support of FareShare and Children in Need. Support from students, parents and staff totalled over £3,300 to be shared between these two worthy causes. We are very grateful to the CHS Community for their support.
We decided to support FareShare due to the charity's needs in Manchester. The charity had taken on additional warehouse space to respond to the child poverty crisis and due to increased demand from vulnerable families during a time of hardship. The donations helped to support this project and get more meals to families across Greater Manchester.
Our Parent's Association led on a campaign to support around 100 families from our three partner primary schools in Stockport. These families had fallen on hard times during the pandemic and period of uncertainty and challenge, and the PA wanted to ensure they were supported.
Working with our partner schools they provided a range of essentials, and some luxuries, to produce a holiday hamper for each family.
Thank you to everyone who donated produce or supported the campaign financially, we were overwhelmed with the response.
