The whole School gathered in front of the Main Building and heard readings from CHS Head, Mr Neil Smith; Senior Deputy Head, Mr Lee Richardson; Deputy Head (Pupil Welfare), Mrs Susan James; CHS Junior School Head, Mr Vincent Weightman; Upper School pupils Aminah and Abbas; Lower School pupils Jainam and Preeya; and Head Pupils Alyssa, Natasha and Joshua.
Each reading was shared in tribute of those who died in the war, as well as those whose lives have been irreversibly changed by the impact of war over the years.
CHS musicians marked the start of a 2-minute silence with the Last Post and the School House flags of Allen, Clarke, Marsh, and Whitehead were lowered.
Wreaths were positioned before the green door and the names of Old Waconians who died in 1942 were read aloud by pupils in Sixth Form. Poppy sticks line the road of the Main Entrance, each marked by the pupils with the name of someone they wanted to remember.
At the War Memorial Sundial, a smaller ceremony followed, and wreaths were laid with readings from Reverend Pickles and Head, Mr Neil Smith.
