Last week, the Class of 2026 officially graduated from Cheadle Hulme School, marking the end of an era and the beginning of their next exciting steps into adult life. Parents, staff, and friends gathered with pride as Upper Sixth students took to the stage to receive their well-deserved certificates and awards.
The ceremony was filled with highlights, including the presentation of special prizes to students who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and talent across their academic subjects and co-curricular pursuits.
Head Pupils Ted, Charlotte, Retheic and Mira spoke movingly to their classmates, reflecting on their cherished time at CHS. They extended heartfelt thanks to the entire community for the unwavering support they have received throughout their journey as Waconians.
The ceremony also featured a backdrop of nostalgic photos as the cohort performed live, with the Big Band playing RAYE’s ‘Where is my husband’ and music group Gabagool covering The Cure.
CHS Head, Mr Lee Richardson, addressed the cohort leaving them with words of encouragement:
“I know that you will look back on your time here with great fondness and that today will generate many mixed emotions…maybe even a little unsure about what lies ahead... CHS will always be here to support you as Old Waconians: As you head off on your next adventure, whatever that may be, know that you carry with you the support of the CHS Community. I look forward to welcoming you in the future as Old Waconians and hearing stories of your adventures, challenges and successes. I encourage you to embrace every opportunity, explore new horizons, and never forget the values that have shaped you.”
Following the formal ceremony, the atmosphere shifted to one of pure celebration as graduates, families, and friends moved outside the sixth form centre. The area buzzed with energy as guests enjoyed lawn games, indulged in delicious food and drinks, including freshly made woodfired pizza, and danced to a fantastic live performance by Old Waconian Max Cooper and his band.
The full highlights of the evening are available to watch here on our YouTube channel, and a comprehensive collection of photographs can be viewed in the CHS Gallery.
With their final examinations now behind them, the Class of 2026 can enjoy a well-deserved summer break before results day in August. Please join us in offering a warm welcome to our newest Old Waconian members.
