Our U16 girls were crowned England Netball National Champions at the weekend following a thrilling final that was decided by a dramatic golden goal.
The CHS team faced Berkhamsted School in a fiercely contested final with the match level at full time and still tied after extra time. In a tense, edge-of-your-seat finish, CHS secured victory with a decisive golden goal to claim the national title.
The achievement is a testament not only to the talent of this group, but the strength and depth of netball at CHS.
Netball is led by led by Leanne Thomas, a former Welsh national player. Reflecting on the victory, Leanne said:
"I couldn't be prouder of this group of girls. They showed incredible composure and belief, especially in such a high-pressure final. To come through a game like that, going to golden goal says everything about their character. They've worked so hard for this and thoroughly deserve to be national champions".
Head Mr Richardson said: "This is an outstanding achievement and testament to the dedication, resilience and teamwork of the players. We are incredibly proud of the team and the way they represent the values of the school on a nationall stage".
This latest success is another milestone in the continued rise of netball at CHS, where students are supported to develop as athletes, teammates and leaders.
