CHS has recently welcomed a number of Old Waconians back to inspire current pupils through engaging podcast appearances and career talks as part of the Beyond CHS lecture series. These visits not only provide invaluable career insights, but also offer reflections on school life, growth, and life beyond the classroom.
Unlike traditional career talks, the Ed. Podcast allows for Waconians to take the lead, conducting the interviews, asking the questions and delving into the topics they find most relevant.
Year 11 pupil and podcast co-host Julia says: “I absolutely love hosting podcast episodes at school. It’s such a great chance for me to chat in front of an audience, step out of my comfort zone, and connect with inspiring guests and Old Waconians!”
Co-host Frankie adds to this: “I enjoy hosting the podcast because I get to talk to so many different people about doing what they love. It’s interesting and also useful to see the vast spread of career choices that are out there!”
Recent guests have included Fashion Designer and Entrepreneur Hannah Beaumont-Laurencia, Criminal Barrister Karim Khalil KC and Rally Driver Chris Ingram.
The Ed. Podcast and Beyond CHS lecture series is a reflection of CHS’s mission to foster a supportive, interconnected community, giving Waconians the chance to hear from people who were once in their shoes.
